I used a hex program to upgrade to a new Hard drive, I went from a 9 gig to a 80 gig. The Transfer was complete on a sector by sector data. The hex / ascII data was complete. It was a perfect clone with one major flaw. I didn't change the starting point or ending point of the cylinder, head, etc. So the volume is reading the only 9 gig instead of 80. Any help would be nice.

brainweed,

Two Options: One, leave as is, create a new partition in Disk Management (Right-click My Computer>Manage>Disk Management) and create a second data partition in the unused space. 9GB is a little slim for a system partition, but will work.

Better, get a partitioning app like Partition Magic or Partition Manager and change the size of your logical disk.

OK, three options. Get Norton Ghost (I love 2003 ver.) or Acronis True Image and re-clone setting the parameters to match your new drive's capacity. Best of luck and welcome!

Or another option - new drive manufacturer will almost certainly have a cloning app (to enable exactly what you are doing) on their website - and it'll be free. Just make sure you disconnect original drive before booting clone.

I used a linux program to fix my problem, mounting the drive and changing the unused info to a e: I appricate all the help
