Hi.

My external hard drive died a few days ago. It was working fine, and suddenly, it wouldnt connect and wasnt showing up on the network. I realize this probably wasnt the best thing to do, but we took it apart to try to put the harddisks into the same model, as a final effort to recover some of the data. That didnt work, and the disk appear to be scratched slightly. I know with the scratches and the taking apart deal that my data is probably lost forever, but I'm wondering if there is any hope of recovery. It was stupid of me to put all my data (2 years of pictures) onto the disk drive without backing up (I am kicking myself), but im pleaing for any advice or possible recovery methods??

A professional recovery company may be able to get some of it back. But it will be expensive.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

ontrack.com You pay $100 for an eval. They tell you what can be recovered and what'll cost. Then you can decide what to do.

Try SalvageData, they are experts at this and have helped me in the past, they offer a free evaluation to determine if the data is salvageable and if it is they would be able to provide a no obligation quote as to exactly how much it would cost to salvage the data.
