Hi
Requirement: Want to migrate from one harddisk to another.
Specifications:
Dual boot partition exists in the current harddisk.. one for WinMe (C:), one or W2000(D:), E:, F: G: exists in same harddisk (all partitions of same harddisk.. each drive letter is about 6 to 8 GB).
Now migrating to another harddisk (IDE type) with different geometry of sctor size/16 bit to 32 bit etc...

Is there any utility which can help to copy one partition to another in a simple manner and without need to reinstall any of the OS or software in it.

I prefer a free utility, since these migrations are once in a way job. DRIVE COPY seems good (reading on the paper). but I dont want to spend that money.

TAKE2 is not good in a different partition sizes or HD geomentry.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
:)

I personally have had success with Drive Image Pro or Ghost. They can resize destination partitions. These do not work every time however.

Drive copy was designed specifically for that task so I would give it a try. I have never used it though.

Sorry I cannot give you any hard recommendations.

HI Meldric...
I have found an XXCOPY which is doing the job nicely. But, in Dual Boot systems, I am finding, the MBR is not getting updated for some spl. reason, the XXCOPY originators specify. It is a nice.. command prompt utility. Some of the locked files dont get copied.. but the system reports the number of files not copied. In the clone option, repeated usage runs as a flash and completes those left out ones. NICE UTILITY ! ramani :-9

The best utility for this job is Partition Magic, but I realize you said you didn't want to spend the money for a one-time thing.

Don't have any better advice; sorry.
