Hi everyone I am working on a mitel mxe 111 3300 which has a major alarm hd1 bad.The system is in a raid configuration.hard disk 1 is bad it is running on hd2.We replaced hard disk one which was a 160 gb(which mitel told us was no longer available) with a new disk from mitel which is a 500gb.It was explained to me as long as the new disk is larger then the original it will work.My understanding when reading the documentation from the unit is that it should automatically start mirroring,but in stead im getting the sos signal from the new disk led(3 fast flashes followed by three slow flashes).I received mixed and unsure responses from mitel tech support on weather we should hit reset button or clear raid socket for hd1 first was also told if it doesn't mirror automatically our raid card is bad and has to be replaced.Not sure what to do. Has anyone been thru this type of failure on a mxe 111 6.0 before and know the correct procedure?thank you

I've been told numerous times by Mitel that it should automatically mirror and I've yet to see that actually happen with a drive replacement
What I normally do
Pull both drives and boot system until the Console reports No Drives Detected.
Power down and insert the previous running disk in slot 1 and power on the system.
Once system is up, insert the replacement drive in slot 2 which should now be able to mirror.

KWB is correct. It's referred to as CLEARING THE SOCKETS. The raid controller is looking for the old disk and can't find it. POwering up the system without any drives resets the sockets you shouldn't have a problem after the resetting process completes. Our understanding is that the drives must be of the same size and manufacturer to work properly although I seen it work with other configurations.
