Hi,
Four computers hanged after a duplicated IP address
detection; I restarted 2 of them, change the IP
address of one of them and change the ethernet
card of the last one to solve the problem.
Now, my problem is to explain what happened, thanks
for help.

Need more info---what OS, what types of PC's, what they were doing right before the crash (were they transferring files, broadcasting amongst eachother, etc.), what connects them (what type of switch, or is it a hub). If you have a hub, then you will not only have collisions, but the stations rely totally on CSMA/CA and CSMA/CD. They could also be APRing and detect the duplicate IP address, which could result in confusion and therefor a hang.

Apparently they were working as usual on the applications
of the company, they are connected to a 1 Gb switch.
Thanks
