I'm curious if anybody has ever had a problem with a speakerphone on a Norstar set?

I have a customer who I have installed a brand new T7316. When they try to use the handsfree feature, the quality is awful and erratically cuts out.
I've replaced the phone and the cabling, but it still has the same problem. I've used new phones I received in the same shipment.

It's not because of any background noise or overriding noises. I've never had one do that. Anybody have any ideas?

I haven't used any of the T series sets, but historically the Norstar handsfree is the best in the business, short of a true audioconferencing speakerphone... is it possible the phone is bad?

Make sure nothing is covering the microphone. I know it sounds dumb but I had the same problem in a noisy area and was trying to blame it on that until I realized a convieniate (sp) way of storing post-its was between their keyboard and phone, blocking the mic. Kevin Clear

I agree, jgideon. I'm curious if I received a bad shipment of 5 phones. I tried another, and it did the same thing.

Hey, kclear. I appreciate the tip. I checked to make sure the path was clear, and it is. Any other suggestions?

Bob,
Change the port. ??
What system is it on?
I have M series phones that do that when I use a 3X8 DR1.

I've tried that.
This is on a MICS with the latest software.

Hey, guys. I solved the problem.

kclear was on the right track. The T7316's are sitting on plastic stands. The lip that holds the phone up was obstructing the microphone. For those that don't know, the mike is almost directly under the line/feature buttons, on the edge of the phone.

It was blocking it just enough to cause problems. So, another one for the DUH files.....
