I'm using my ISP's free webhosting which doesnt support server-side stuff.

I want to add a 'comments' page to my site, but can't figure out how to do it. So far, I have a form with a textbox and a button. I'm trying to keep everything XHTML 1.0 strict, and am using css and javascript.

Everything I put into google seems to lead me in the wrong direction - I find a lot of info on how to write comments in CSS and javascript but nothing about how to do what I'm trying to do.

I'd be more than appreciative if somebody could bump me in the right direction :) Thanks in advance!

You cannot set up commenting without some kind of server support. Your users have to have the ability to save information on your server. Either you give everyone your password and they upload/edit html files or you have to use some kind of server side scripting. Since you do not have the second one available and first is not really a good option, I guess you will have to switch hosts. There are numerous free hosts that support php.

Damn. Kinda figured that but tried my hardest to avoid hearing it. Thanks all the same tho - will find another host.

You could submit the form data to an email address and then add it manually or using xml and stylesheets. It isn't automatic and users would have a time lag between posting and viewing but it might work.

Or you could use a third party approach, like we used to use for guestbooks back in the day.

But if you're doing anything remotely serious, pay up for some proper hosting with server-side facilities. It's dirt cheap these days anyway.
