Ok please help me figure out how to create halftones using Corel Draw 12. I used to have an actual darkroom but lost in in the flood last year. Now I need to learn how to to the same in Corel. Could someone please give me a link or a detailed set of instructions on how to do this. Please remember that I've never done them on the computer so I will need the really idiot version of the instructions. Thank you in advance.

Do you mean altering the dot density ie line screen when you output separations? If you describe what you want to do a bit more I may be able to help further.

I need to produce an image that has a dot pattern that a printing press can use. The plates for the press need to have small holes in them for the ink to be pushed through hense the dot pattern. When you scan in a photograph they do not have dot patterns on them. I need to learn how to do that using Corel Draw 12. In Adobe Photoshop it is called creating a line shot to apply the half tone, or you can print it out as a line shot where the standard is a 175 line??? But I do not have Photoshop yet so I can't figure that one out. I hope that helps some?

This can be done easily in Draw but it does need a postscript printing device to print, do you have this? if not although an image setter would produce your dots at output time a pcl printer used for proofing will not . I use an HP 5000 and HP1300 laser printer for proofing but they are both POSTSCRIPT. Look under the postscript tab and find screen frequency, change this for different line screens.

I have an HP LaserJet 6p...How do I find out if I have a postscript printer? Sorry for being so dumb and thank you for all the help!

The HP 6 you have may well be postscript if you read your instructions it will probably tell, correct driver must be installed, do you have a driver for it with ps after the name if this is installed the postscript tab in the Draw print dialogue box should give you more options.

Ok I downloaded the update for my printer and I now have a PostScript tab. Do you know what the normal setting should be to produce a half tone. And also thank you so very much for the information and help.

Draw's default screen is normally 133 but you can either choose another from the drop down or put you own number in.
