"Hi,

I recently installed an IP Office R9.1 with Analog PSTN lines and IP phones. The system has 2 combo cards and a Phone2.
When a caller calls in, if they speak or there is loud background noise, the Auto Attendant cuts out until the sound/noise stops.
This also happens during person-to-person conversations. Echo cancellation and analog trunk settings are currently at default settings.
It is unknown thus far whether this happens on extension-to-extension calls. I will update with that information as soon as I can get onsite to test.
Thanks
Mike"

This issue continues to happen. I am going out again tomorrow to dig around. The issue persists on multiple firmware release.
The issue is not present, however, when making or reciving calls on the 9608's and 1603's when the calls are over the SCM to another site using their analog trunks. It's night and day in the difference!

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks all.

Mike

have the lines been tested? have you tried the impedance test on the trunks?

You mention there are analog lines on the system, but how are the lines delivered? Are they over a cable modem? Based on the limited info I don't think your issue is with the IPO at all, I think the carrier is having an issue. If you disconnect the main line and plug into a butt set or analog phone directly, can you reproduce the problem?

Hi,

Yes, I have the impedence matching set to auto but have tried multiple settings. The telco says the lines are clean. The lines are copper from the IP office straight back to the CO.
Thanks
Mike

measure the lines and see if they are really hot.
don't remember any more but I think if it is over 35mA then you should put in resistors in Tip and Ring to dull it down a bit (always use 2 to keep the line homogeneous)
