Hi, I have a hairline that appears around my images when i export to pdf from indesign. I can see in id momentarily when zooming into project, and it exports ok as jepg? Anyone know what this is? many thanks, Sam
...probably just screen rendering, export to PDF 1.3, high flattening, turn smooth line art off in acrobat preferences, vector will be jagged but if you see gaps when zooming then you definitely have a problem...
It's called stitching, where the image is sliced into parts and then reassembled. It won't appear on the printed piece. But make sure you get a proof from the printers and thoroughly check it, as it could be something else. But it's most likely stitching. This happens when flattening occurs, where the computer has to push overlapping transparent colours together to make a shape with it's own shading.
Like if you overlap a yellow and green circle, it should print blue, if the colours are set to a blend mode of Multiply. So instead of keeping that transparency it will merge the intersection of the two circles into one shape that has the shade of blue and the yellow and green will have that shape knocked out if it's circles.
