There can many types of HA events, and I want to add my e-mail address so that I can be notified via e-mail if there are any HA events.

Please advise.

Thanks much

You can as well send an SMS on events!

Try going to smitty hacmp -> Extendend Configuration -> Extended Event Config -> Configure Remote Notification Methods -> Add a Custom Remote Notification Method

Note: You need an SMS gateway to be specified in the "Number to dial .." field.

Thank you for the tip. I am trying to plug my e-mail address to the existing events so that I can get e-mails. I am not sure I am missing something, but I can't find how to plug my e-mail address into them.
please advise.

Thanks much

It is not recommended by IBM to modify the existing scripts! They have the right not to support your cluster (according to them). So you better create your own events that will be called when the predefiend events get called.

What exactly do you want to acheive? Are you looking at sending an email when a failover occur? If so then you can simply plug in your email in the start/stop application scripts instead!

ok.... There are a number of HA events.
When each event occurs, I like to receive e-mail notifications. Of course, I need the e-mail notification when a failover occurs. I thought I can plug my e-mail address somewhere with SMIT hacmp so that I can get e-mail notifications for all/any types of HA events.
Please let me know if this clarifies.

Thanks much

Hi

One of the things you can do is add a custom event , here you define your script NOTE $1 is the event for example

swap_adapter , config_too_long is $1

in your script you would say if $1 is
swap_adapter, config_too_long , node_down etc...

then email the user

You select what events you want to be notified with,

Then go to extended config , change / show predefined events .. select from the list the events you want to check

and then in the post command add in the script you want to run ( i.e. this the custom script you added earlier)
