There are quite a few different google results. Do a google "asterisk h323 trunk to XXX".
I worked a couple of years ago on connecting to Avaya Comm Manager with limited success. I ultimately connected with PRI and had great success. While this did cost more for the equipment on either side, it was quick and painless.
Bottom line, if you have the time, I would give the H323 a shot, but know that a PRI solution is available.

H323 isn't too difficult, just a bit rudimentary. Make sure you have ooh323 loaded.
