I have a 962oL phone at home and im trying to set up an H323 connection to my office, I have 1719,1720,5005 and RTP ports forwarded to IP office address and by changing Firewall/Nat type I can get it so I have the One X screen up on the phone but with no dial tone etc. If I check the logs on the router I can see 1719 and 1720 being forwarded but nothing else. I have a netgear N300 (DGN2200V4) router and was wondering if this was the issue, if I run STUN I just get registering on the phone, Im not a router expert so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Where do you run STUN? There's no such option on the H.323 firmware.
I assume you have a Power User license and enabled Remote Worker on your user.
Also make sure that ALG or Service-Inspection isn't active on the firewall.

If you're able to login the phone take a monitor trace so we can see what happens.

The 9620l is vpn capable. No? Get a vpn router and do PSK.

Try to spend the next 10 seconds not thinking about a bi-polar bear.

As part of the H323 setup in the IP office you configure STUN and as for VPN, im aware of this but this particular customer will not use VPNs.

Thanks

Still unable to get registration working and no dial tone etc, has anyone had a similar occurrence?

Just checked monitor and H323 status and user is just showing " Registration Pending" anyone any ideas?

Add the below to your NoUser Source Number, as well as forward the port 1800 on the IP Office side.
REMOTE_H323=1800

Confirm you have enabled remote H.323 extension enabled.

Your Network Port should also be set up to static port block

Check your IP Routes.

Check the phone settings and make sure they are configured correctly.

At this point you should be able to run a packet trace and use monitor to see where the failure is if their is still one.

from the sounds of what your saying the phone is halfway Hitting the IP Office and the same vice-versa, your almost done.

Newb001 your a star that works a treat!!!!!

What does that no user command actually do? what is port 1800 for??

It changes port 1720 in to 1800 which is needed for Cisco routers and perhaps some other brands too.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks, read that trick on a post about a year ago. I have found it to be very common anymore when working with a H.323 phone behind a home router. Haven't been able to narrow down why 1720 is an issue, but in the mean time it is a nice tip to keep up your sleeve.

From 9.1 this is an option on the voip tab of the lan port.
