Upgraded 406 on 3.2 to a 500v2 on 6.1.54. There is a 401 on a H323 link that I can no longer call, get unobtainable message.
IP settings look the sanme on the new system.
Any ideas?

Attached cfg's of old & new systems

Not positive but do the two systems have to be within 2 software releases to communicate? I believe it's true for an SCN link.

a simple h323 trunk should be OK. its only SCN features that break when mixing and matching with old releases. We had h323 links on an ip500 talking to an Index.

Do not use IPOffice SCN but try H.450 on the 406.

When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

looking at your config, im not following

SCN VoIP settings, you have gateway as 192.168.3.252

your IP route out to the real world's gateway is also 192.168.3.252

explain?

I understand your confusion , however the IPO,s are sat on a direct fibre link between sites with the only piece`s of hardware in between the IPo`s being a media convertor at each site and patch leads.

Good point though.

Licence?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

If they are on the same subnet no route is required, can the systems even ping each other (using SSA)?

Yes i can ping the SOE , there are no licences in the old 406 so thats not the issue, im wondering if it is something to do with incompatible software levels , the VCM card on the IPO500 is working fine, 10 IP phones up and running across a different fibre....any more thoughts guys.!

500 and 500 v2's require a voice networking licence to link systems where as 406's and SOE's etc didn't. Without a voice networking licence it will never work :)

Exactly why I asked the question.

I bet you can call from the 401 to the ip500 though because the licence only controls outbound calls.

Does this apply as it is just a H323 line no SCN involved?

Yes, SCN or no SCN the link will not work without those licences. That's why the 500 hardware is cheaper then the 406 was when new, as everything is licenced :)

Ok thanks , why 2 suppliers tech support teams could not tell us that is beyond me but thankyou.

Lesson Learnt will do this first next time...found on knowledge base, cheers guys!

"IP500 Voice Networking Licenses
The use of private voice networking trunks between IP500 control units and other systems requires voice networking channel licenses within the IP500. This applies to H323 IP trunks configured on the IP500 including IP trunks being used for an IP Office Small Community Network (SCN). A voice networking license is also required for the use of trunks configured to for QSIG operation. On H323 IP trunk, a license instance is consumed for each simultaneous outgoing call (incoming calls do NOT consume a license). On QSIG trunk, the number of calls is limited by the trunk type rather than available licenses
