Hi,
I have server edition R10 with2 servers primary and secondary, 35 H.323 phones 1608,9608,1616 as well as SIP phones E129.
Well SIP works well but when H323 phone is busy on call and primary server goes down, call do not get terminited till some time after that which ever H323 phone was busy do not get register with resilient server(secondary server) and massage comes "Discovering IP"(of primary server) but same time all H323 phones which ever are Idle not on call gets register with secondary server.
(All ports are open and all works well but this issue do not have resolution)

What is Keep Alive and enableing of it can solve my issue?

Plz help

Regards,
Prashant

The feature that is keeping the existing calls connected is "Media Connection Preservation".

You can enable/disable it through the 'System | Telephony | Telephony | Media Connection Preservation' setting. [It can also be disabled for SIP lines through 'Line | SIP Advanced | Media Connection Preservation' and it relies on direct media so disabling that will stop it happening]

That said, once the call ends the phone should look for its primary, but then for its secondary, so something may be wrong as you suspect. It does take some time before H.323 phones give up and switch so I would say patience but if its over 8 minutes then its probably wrong.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Sorry to tell you it works for me on 10.1. Had a 9608 on a call, disconnected my primary. Once the other H.323 phones re-registered to the secondary I end the call. The 9608 registered to the secondary in about 10 seconds.

If I did the same but ended the call before the other H.323s had re-registered to the primary, I did see the 9608 go briefly to discovery for the primary but then it registered to the secondary.

[About the only fun thing I found was that the 9608 couldn't end the call. The Drop softkey didn't work, replacing the handset didn't work, the far end needed to end the call.]

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

What if i do not end call manually.
In my system it search of primary ip and so on but do not get register on secondary server.
