No, this is not a spam post. I go to a client's office a few days ago to do some work and first thing I notice is that one of the employees is wearing a gun in a holster. Ok, fine - it's legal if you're licensed. Just a bit shocking since you don't see many guns in an office setting.

Then I go to install some software on all the PCs and I notice there is a DVD in gun guy's computer. Okay, we'll pull it out. Turns out to be an X-rated DVD with a graphic picture on the DVD's top side. I would post the exact title but maybe not. It was "something something Milfs". So, I turn it upside down on gun guy's desk and leave the office while the software installs. I get back to check on it and the DVD is gone.

I was ready to say to the guy, "no big deal dude. I'd rather have you looking at a porn DVD vs. using the internet to get that content for the sake of computer security". But not a word was spoken about it. Probably best. I'm not telling the guy's boss either.

Fun times on the job.

Gotta love the things you see in the office that maybe shouldn't be there. You never mentioned the size or type of company. I know when I worked travelling and supporting a lot of little "mom and pop"-type companies, I would see porn on the PCs quite often. No big deal for me...if its your company or you allow/don't restrict your employees, that's your choice.

The gun is another story. I also don't see it often by others, but I wear mine into the office every day. But then, when I arrive at work I am on my motorcycle, in my club gear and immediately make my way to one of the bathrooms or our locker area to change into appropriate work clothes. But my gun comes off my street clothes and is place directly onto my work clothes belt.

When asked why I always carry a weapon (I also have a 5 inch buck knife of my belt and a 7 inch tactical knife on my club vest), I always answer honestly that I am prior military, ride as part of a motorcycle club that is all prior military vets, and feel that having a visible weapon for personal protection/deterrent is better than carrying concealed.

I have never had to draw my weapon at the office, but in the past two years the building I work in has been locked down twice by local police forces because of a shooter either in our parking lot (it's a massive commercial complex with dozens of businesses all sharing three parking garages.) but have drawn my gun twice in defense of myself or a club brother.

Thanks for the story...it's good to know I am not the only one out there who sees this kind of stuff. Always fun talking about the things I see when deployed out for service.
