We installed the software back during the "I Love You" Virus and have to say we are very pleased with the product. Even when our competitors have been hit and had to bring their e-mail servers down, when our consultants couldn't communicate with us. We were going 100% without incident. Really give us a great reputation with our clients and consultants. david e *end users are just like computers, some you can work with...others just need a simple reBOOTing to fix their problems.*
Guinevere is a wonderful program and has been a great virus protection solution for GroupWise. We are using it currently. A couple of things to keep in mind. You have to have third party software, such as mcafee, that guinevere uses. Guinevere also needs a path to this virus scanning software in the autoexec. One other thing that had me stumped when first installing it is that you have to go in and tell it to scan inbound and outbound messages. The default is "don't scan" for both which seemed odd. The program is great and we are very pleased.
Good points Kyle. It's been over a year since I've installed it but have to say both those issues gave me problems......
One other product just released on the market is GWAVA, it does the scanning job of Guinevere and also has some Spam blocking abilities. Both Guinevere and GWAVA contain the works of Michael Bell. If you spend any time on the Novell Forums you should recognize his name. There are some major differences between the two so you should look into them both carefully.
