Guest check printout super slow

Hi Everyone,

I'm Stumped. We recently upgraded a terminal from WinXP embedded to WIn 7 embedded. We use Epson TM-88 as our printers, connected to COM 2 on our Aloha POS Terminal. Everything works fine except for when we try to print out a guest check from the close check screen. There is a 5-6 second delay from when you press the print button to when the check actually prints out. Any other type or printing (CC's, Reports, Clock in/outs) print out without issue.

Tried a new TRANS.LOG, deleted the old PRT.LOG files. Changing com settings to a bunch of different combinations with the buffer, nothing made a difference.

It's a real annoying problem, the whole screen freezes until the check prints out. I'm not sure where to even start to look. Any help or insight would be most appreciated.

How is the printer setup on the dip switches? Make sure they are setup for the larger buffer. I will look for the settings manual for this and post it shortly.

Try setting the COM port settings to match what Aloha uses. Xon - Xoff, 9600 Baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, Parity on, even parity...

Do you have an image printing on the guest check at the top (logo, etc)?

Hi All,

Did not have any logo printing on the printer. I rem that out in Aloha.ini Com settings were all good.

What it ended up being is a third party program for mobile pay. The aloha fileserver was not setup for mobile pay, but the terminal image had it pre-installed. When you print out a guest check, this third party app would look for there service on the file server, then print. Since it couldn't find it, it stalled the printing until it timed out.
