Hi,

We just installed SP 5 for Groupwise 5.5. Now when you print an email at most of our workstations the print is in Arabic. Changing from an enhanced or PCL printer driver to a standard or older driver is the only thing that will make it print correctly. For example I change from an hp4000 PCL 5e driver to a HP laserjet 5 driver and printing returns to normal. The other strange thing is that the subject line always prints in english. It is just the body that prints in Arabic.

I have also tryed deleting the printer and re-installing it.

Help

I would think that you are looking at a driver issue... not necessarily a GroupWise issue. You may want to contact HP on this one.

salserocito,

I don't think it is a driver issue because it just started after we installed sp5 and it is happening on our hp4000 and an hp 6P laserjet

When you applied SP5, did you update all of your GroupWise Clients, as well as your GroupWise Server NLM's?

If you still have the SP4 versions of the GWMTA.NLM, GWPOA.NLM and GWENN2.NLM, you could load those GroupWise Agents and see if you still get the problem. That would basically isolate the issue. If you no longer get the issue after loading the SP4 agents, you know its an NLM problem. If the problem continues to happen, you know for sure that its a client issue.

Good Luck.

salserocito,

Hi,

We did update the nlm you reference. They are all version 5.55. We did update all of the clients too.

Test it both ways... 5.5.5 client with 5.5.4 Agents and vice versa.

Good Luck!

We had this problem as well but it happened when we went from GW 5.5 to GW 6.0 and specifically with the 6.0.1 clients. It only happened on a few workstations and we found that a printer driver change on those few computers made the difference. Strange but true.

We also just upgraded from 5.5 to 6 and had the same problems on a few workstations that would print Arabic. All that needs to be done is to re-install the printer drivers.

Hi kat1723,

Thanks for your response. Re-Installing the print drivers does not work for us. We have to install a different driver completely. Which I think is nuts. I could probably stick with 5.54 on the work stations and 5.55 on the server. But why should I have to.

Sorry just venting

This is a printer driver issue. Especially if you're using Windows2000. Try downloading the drivers from the manufacturer instead of using the drivers supplied by the operating system. This same thing will sometimes cause large banners to print across the pages, too.

We have a similar issue, we reinstalled the printer driver to no avail. We have narrowed it down to email coming from a specific user who is not on GW6.
I still need to check the client version of the sender. I updated that user's client will resolve the issue.
