GroupWise 6.5 "Contact Auto choose/complete" issue...

Evening,

I have a client who is thuroughly annoyed with a native feature present in GW 6.5. The feature contstantly auto inserts contacts as they are being entered. This creates endless frustration for the client and I need to know if it can be turned off.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you by chance talking about the Auto Save feature for the Frequent Contacts address book? If so, you can turn it off by going to the Frequent Contacts address book and selecting File/Properties/Options/Auto-saving off.

Or do you mean the annoying way GW auto-completes the TO: field? I'd like to turn that off myself...

Here is the issue as my Primary technician defines it...

While filling in the company name for some users in the Groupwise address book. This field will auto complete if a company name is already being used. Example: If you have only one company starting with A like Apple in the address book, then when you type A in this field, then Groupwise will auto complete it with Apple.

..and it's one of my favorite features! No pleasing everyone though.

To shut it off:
open your address book
go to the FILE menu
Select "name completion search order"
Check the box labeled "disable name completion"

What I do, just FYI is have it only use my Frequent Contacts and I have it sort them by last name first. Works great and generates fewer unwanted auto-fills. You do have to maintain your address book - make sure everyone has a first or at least a last name in there and that the display order is set properly (last,first) but that's a one time setup issue and then you are golden.
