This's the scenario:

When sending internet email to users with a period between their email address it seams that Groupwise is having problems resolving it thereofore the eamils dont get to their destination.

EX: haa.tree@vista.com

Does anyone please have any information in this matter.

Thanks

How do I access my email from Gruopwise at work , here at home if I don't have groupwise at home?

I dont understand your question?
I access groupwise from work.

micotin846,

From NWAdmin in the GW View, right-click your primary domain object and select System Operations, then Internet Addressing and make sure you have selected the Internet addressing format you want to use.

MA ;-)

MA:

Thanks for the info. My concern is if I change the address format to: re:TTT.TTT@baba.com will it disable the user ability to send emails to: re:micotin@1234.com ?

Thanks for your help

micotin846,

That is a possibility, however, you may find you can use a GW nickname or possibly a gateway alias name. I've used a nickname in order to receive email under different names but have not used an alias. Though I have not changed from user@company.com to first.last@company.com I have used a nickname for certain users that have changed their name (marriage, divorce, etc) so that until others that do not get the change of address right away will still get the mail thru.

It is always better to plan ahead but, as organizations grow the naming scheme sometimes needs to grow as well. I may well be in your same shoes soon. :-(

Good luck,

MA

Have you tried internet: before the address? Just a thought. We have to do this with addresses like ca.us.gov

The internet mail convention can all be setup via the NWADMIN under the user's own internet addressing, but this get better as the whole post office can also be setup to the internet convention too ; firstname.lastname@company.com

My test for you is how do you think Groupwise handling a reply with two dots in the name; mr.clever.man@dumb.com
there is a price waiting here for the first correct answer !!
