Grouping by parameter 1

Hi,

I have 2 parameter fields in my report - Region and Sector. I want to add 2 groups to my report based on the above parameters entered by the user. But when I go to Insert Group it does not show me the parameter field in the list. How can I group my report by these parameters?

Hi lbass,

I noticed something in the subreport. The subreport displays the records found under each crew/unit based on the record count under each formula. Now in my subreport I have the {grpname} formula on which the subreport is grouped, which is fine. But the problem is, I have total of 8 formula's. But in the subreport, I want to display the detail records for only 5 of them. I added these 5 under {grpname}. What it is doing right now is, if it finds records under other 3 formula's it displays them in the subreport too without any group name and that is because I didn't add those under {grpname}. I want to display records in subreport for only those 5 formulas.

Try adding:

else ""

to the end of {@grpname}.

Famous last words. Anyway, after making the change to the formula that I suggested (else ""), you should be able to go to the section expert within the subreport and use the following formula in the suppression area for the group header/footer for {@grpname} and the detail section:

{@grpname} = ""

You would also want to format each of those sections to "suppress blank section".

I did as above but it seems to be supressing all the records. No records show up. It just shows the blank page with field headers.
