I've never used Group before and need to set up a report to do a group within a group that triggers based on change in Year and change in State within Year.

Something like the following:

Sales Year: 2004 Projected Realized
State: Maryland
Car Sales xxx yyy
Home Sales xxx yyy
Truck Sales xxx yyy

State: California
Car Sales xxx yyy
Home Sales xxx yyy
Truck Sales xxx yyy

Sales Year: 2005 Projected Realized
State: Maryland
Car Sales xxx yyy
Home Sales xxx yyy
Truck Sales xxx yyy

State: California
Car Sales xxx yyy
Home Sales xxx yyy
Truck Sales xxx yyy

Would the "Sales Year: [Year]"
be placed in the "Group Header #1b" section ??

(I'm not using the names in the Main Group headers "Group #1 Name" so it's suppressed and I "Inserted Section below" to get "Group Header #1b".

I have the "State and Sales" lines in the "Details" section??

Thanks

I'm guessing that you want a Group 2 for State and possibly a Group 3,4 and 5 for Car, Home and Truck but I don't know how your data is organized.

Hi there -
Yes,
Group 1 Year, Group 2 State
But Car, Home and Truck are the "Sales Line" -
For the Inner Details Section?

Data is:
Year, State Code, Sales line, Projected#, Realized#

A little confused about this too, he sends it sorted by "State Code" then "Year" (ie. all the CA's are together by Year, hen the MD's).

Thanks again

I would then include a Group 3 for "Sales Line".

Go ahead and place Year, State Code, Sales line, Projected#, Realized# in the Details. SUM the Projected# and Realized# and Place them in Group FOOTER 3. Place the Appropriate text in the Group FOOTER. Supress the Group HEADERS and Details.

Sounds great - Enjoy!
I can only see 1 line of data with my txx file.

I passed it to the web guy and He'll post it so I can see the results with mult lines from the DB. No word yet.

Oh, I got him to change the sort order so Year will be first - which only makes sense.

Thanks again for your help.
