I have a grouped report, but whenever I set up a parameter selection to choose the groups in select expert I get different records showing as the default values.

I am using the same field from the same table for the group AND the parameter, but the results do not match.
Any suggestions?

The default values are taken from the first 500 records of the table you are reading, at the time you pull the list. This is based on which table/field you highlight in the 'default values' window. If the data changes, the list will change. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Ooohhhhhh. Now it makes sense!
I think I'll have them input the value then.
Thanks!

Crawford,

you can input a default values list in the frop down box, so the users will not have to "guess" what to put in. When you are creating the paramter, leave the browse table and browse field blank, and manually input the list of values that you might reasonable expect the user to input. Like Ken said this is not dynamic but it may help a bit. Software Support for Sage Mas90, Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Excellent tip. I entered all the feild they need.
That's especially good since the feild may expand later if that dept adds any more service employees.
I also left the browse table and browse field blank.
So far so good!

One more question if I may.
Is there a way to get the select formula to accept a parameter field reference when it wants a date-time format?

It isn't format, it is data type. You can either change the data type of the parameter to DateTime, or you can write a formula that gives the DateTime Equivalent of the Parameter. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

thanks again! I was making it harder on myself by specifying a date() in the select expert. Now it is looking right at the parameter.
