Can internal group ringing be set for a certain number of rings or time without being able to be interrupted by one of the other phones in that group picking it up? I have a client that would like to use this as more of an alert.

No, but you are using the wrong group ring type if you have this problem, you should be using sequential ring to prioritise who should get the call first :)

amriddle01. Thanks for the quick reply. Crazy but true. This client is in a new building that was designed by an architectural/engineering team and they did not spec a loudspeaker paging system for making announcements...normal or emergency. Looking to overcome the lack of such paging system for getting notifications to others within the building if they are in a situation of needing emergency help from others in the building.

you can create an all page group that will page through all of the phone speakers

joe2938. Thanks for your reply. They would like to reach over and push a button as to not be obvious to the person in which is making the threat to them. So they choose not to make a paging announcement.

Then never even consider using the telephone system to do this, this is not your problem to solve just because they think they can make it kind of work. But if you do it, it's your problem when it goes wrong and you who will be sued and possibly thrown in jail if something really bad happens.

The system is not designed nor rated to act in this manner, end of story :)

So the Cust is in an environment where threats are possible & the architects completely missed a vital customer requirement & now the customer is looking to (ab)use the Phone system to overcome this issue...

You could try putting a few Extn bells on analog. Extns as alarm bells but most customers would actually like the Alarm button to also be discreetly located. The tone from the handsets when the Alarm button could also be obvious to the hostile person & as such any solution using the handset is probably unsuitable.

They probably need to bill the Architects for the cost of installing a suitable system.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
