Hi

I am having a problem deploying software to some machines on a clients network. We use RIS to install XP SP2 which then reboots and install Office 2003, Acrobat v7.0 and Symantec AV v9.0.

90% of the machines work fine, but some do not deploy correctly. When it trys to install the software you see a quick flash with each package mentioned but no install takes place.

All workstations are memebers of the same GPO and have the same settings.

Lastly the network is working a treat, i.e DNS, DHCP are all configured correctly and RIS has no problems installing XP.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Are the PC's that don't install the packages located in a similar physical area?

I've had this problem when I've had the PC plugged into a small Linksys switch which was then connected to my primary switches for the network. I was always able to get around this by bypassing the Linksys.

This is similar to what i was thinking, i had a planet switch set to Auto negotiate and it caused all sorts of problems when deploying packages, as soon as i set it manually the problem went away.
