You can create up to 32 paging groups on one media server.
• Each group can consist of up to 32 extensions.
• You can assign the same extension to different groups.
Detailed Description of Group Paging
With the Group Paging feature, you can create a page group, and assign extensions as
members of the group. You assign an identifying extension to each page group, which users
dial to page the group. When a user dials the extension of the paging group, Communication
Manager activates the speakers on all the telephones in the group. Speakerphone paging is
one-way communication: Group members hear the person place the page, but cannot respond
directly.
The Group Paging feature now supports SIP phones. SIP phones not only originate a group
page but also become a part of the paging group. The behavior of non-SIP phones remains
unchanged.
Group Paging restrictions
Pages are not always heard on every telephone in a group. An extension does not transmit a
group page if the extension has an active or a ringing call, or if the extension is off-hook.
Listeners can drop a page if the listeners disconnect. Pages cannot be heard when the Send
All Calls or Do Not Disturb features are activated.
When a group member does not hear the announcement for any of these reasons, the caller
is not notified. Therefore, the originator of an important page might want to check with the group
members to ensure that all members heard the page.

While I have you.
When I dial the group-page access extension does the paging come from the core or LSP? What happens if the IP link to the core is down? Can the LSP be programmed to do the group=paging even if the link to the core is working?
Just trying to understand the limitations.

If active group paging will come from the core resources (the lsp is just redundant until network access is lost and then becomes active)The lsp has all the same programming as the core the only phones it wont page are the ones it cant reach across the broken link

Montyzummer,
So, the 8300s LSP acts much like the G3 with duplication, assessing the core link health, ready to take over. If that's a true statement what controls a station to station call (once established) in the same switch, the local Media Processor?

your s8300 is just sat there redundant waiting to take over , its plugged into a gateway that has DSP resources and probably cards for local trunks etc , the gateway also registers to the core and provides local tones DSP if required , then if connectivity to the core is lost in the gateways list MGC it looks for the LSP the LSP becomes active usually after about 3 mins and all your phones then register to the lsp.
And to answer your question it depends if its direct ip - to ip call on the same codec or with hairpinning on , the phones will do the control, if a DSP resource is required then your local media gateway provides that resource
