Any Ideas Please.
Individual paging works by dialling access code and extn number. The extn rings and then the audio is put through the called extn speaker.
If I dial the access code and group number the phones in the group give a bleep but no audio connection is established.
Thanks

Here's the other thing....when there is only 1 member active in the group page, the tone played by the receiving endpoint is generated by the set itself. When more than one are involved, it is generated by a tone generator on the system and multiplexed out to the different endpoints.

Try to add another member in the page group and re-run the test. See if you still hear the beep at the receiving sets. My guess is that you won't.

This narrows it down to (or at least puts as the front runner) setting up the voice stream itself. If you have access to a PC on the network, try using Wireshark to see if there is actually any streaming going on.

kwb,

Thanks for the encouragement there. But in order to answer a group page to create 2 way conversation you use a Meet Me Answer key to initiate 2 way conversation.

Rich, sre you able to hear the person who initiated the Page, but not speak back? is that the problem?

Matt, my understanding is that audio is not being sent to the phone(s) via group page. No discussion has been made about requiring 2-way audio.

Rich14, please clarify this point as your post is a little ambiguous.

Gents,
Didn't get chance last week to do any further testing with the Meet Me Answer Button.
The way I understand this feature is that it is a one way audio path. From the initiating phone to the group (the various extns in group).
When the call is attempted all the extns in the group do emit a tone but no audio path is established. The initiating phone has the call but no audio is transmitted. With the call still open and established as far as the originating phone thinks, if one of the extns in the group is called it rings as normal and can be answered.
The issue is that the call is not answered by the the extns in the group and hence no audio path established.
The E2T is working, the Analogue phones and TDM trunks have no problems. Conference calls work O.K.
Do you think a reboot would help ?
Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich

Blimey your reply is still kind of ambiguous! If no speach is coming out from the originator to the sets, then kwb's suggestions are valid. But i'm still trying to get my head round if you are then trying to create two way audio from the page?? If that's the case then the Meet me Answer is also valid?

Can you 100% confirm that when the originator pages a group (press the page button then the group number or # i think for default) the phones get a tone, but can they hear the originator speak?

What's the controller type and software?

Gents,
Eventually found the problem but not the cure yet.
There was a firewall between the 3300 controller and the phones in question. When i moved the phones to the 3300 side of the firewall group page worked correctly.
The firewall is blocking the broadcast speech on group paging, but not if an individual number is paged.
Must use a different port.
Not been able to find any mention of which port in the manuals, getting the firewall guys to investigate next.
Thanks Richard

This is the one that you need:

50000-50255 UDP Voice Gateway (post-release 6.0)

Direct page works since they have port 9000 open, since direct page is phone->phone.
