Any Ideas Please.
Individual paging works by dialling access code and extn number. The extn rings and then the audio is put through the called extn speaker.
If I dial the access code and group number the phones in the group give a bleep but no audio connection is established.
Thanks

System type?
Set type?
Feature Access Code?
Group Number?
Actual digits being dialled?

Help us to help you. Garbage in, Garbage out.

System 3300
release 7
*55 (XXXX) Extn number. This works
*55 (71) Group number. This Fails
Group 71 has only one member, which works if dialled individually. It has no diverts or DND set on the extn.

Just covering the bases...check the COS, Group Page Accept/Allow is set? Same COS for all sets?

Just did a simple test with 2 IP sets, FAC *123 with group page 11 to a set extn 2000.

Dial *12311 pages 2000 no problem, so you don't need the # to terminate the string.

There is a # in this string, because I am not too sure if the system is waiting for more numbers, DN 71XX might be programmed as something else on the system.

By pressing the # at the end of the string ~ tells the system to process the number that you input.

Yep, my bad, I didn't realize I had deleted the 111 page group that I made. With two page groups (11 and 111) dialing *12311 will timeout after 5 seconds and page group 11.

Having gone through all that, I don't think this is the problem, since he said he hears the tone, which means the call was processed.

A direct page is set to set, while a group page goes through the E2T, any chance a conference doesn't work?

Another thought, and just guessing, are you testing in speakerphone mode? Loudspeaker paging is designed only to work with the handset lifted, the same may be true for group page.

Irwin, run your test again but have an extension 1100 created. The conflict issue is unlikely to be the issue as the page appears to establish but have no voice but you never know.

Access code does not conflict.
Using IP sets.
Group Page Accept/Allow is set to allow.
The phones in the pager group bleep but no voice path is set up. The originating phone keeps the call up.
Tried making a conference call with the same extensions and that works O.K.

When paging an individual extn the phone rings on the directory key and auto answers. At that point transmission is put through and sound is heard through the speaker, the handset does not lifted.
When the group page is attempted the phone only bleeps, there is no indication on the directory key. If the handset is lifted dial tone is heard.

Sorry, either I was unclear or I don't understand your answer. Are you lifting the handset of the phone initiating the group page before dialing?

Yes, the handset is lifted on the phone initiating the group page.
The handset is not lifted on the recieving phone / phones.

Just read your question again.
I was making the calls from the initiating phone with the handset down. When the call established, (auto answered on individual phone or the phone when in a group bleeped) I then lifted the receiver to speak.

ok so in order to speak on a group page you need to prog a Meet Me Answer button, and press that before speaking. Doesn't quite work the same in Group Page to Direct page.

Ok.
Will try a Meet Me Answer Button tommorrow.
Thanks

Meet me answer not required, not sure where Matt was going with that one.

Stupid question time, is this a live system or a lab system?

Group Page requires E2T resources that might not be noticed on an inactive system.

kwb, that's why I asked about the conference, to see if the E2T channels were established correctly.
