Hi,
on page 81 of doc 233507_7 4600 Series IP Telephone LAN Administrator Guide.pdf, Avaya states :

As of Release 2.8, Communication Manager Release 3.1.3 and above supports the
downloading of the GROUP settings upon registration of the individual phone.

Also in fw2.8 Readme txt file ( 4602_10_20_25_readme_R2_8.txt ) :
IMPROVEMENTS IN R2.8:

+ Support administrable option with CM3.1.3 and CM4.0 that would allow remote setting of
GROUP ID on endpoints.

But no further info is found anywhere... Anyone has played with this (new) option ?

Cheers

Johan

Hi Peter,

what you write is 100% correct, I knew that, but it seems that from CM 3.1.3 and firmware 2.8 in the phone, you can assign a group to a phone remotely, without manually entering the (MUTE)GROUP#sequence.... but the manuals lack of more info.

Thanks anyway, nice scripts

Johan

I don't know if the group settings are put in to the backup file ?
If yes then you could change that file and reboot the phone

No from 4.0 on page 3 in asa you can set the group id, but you need to reset the phone once or twice.....
