I'm in the process of moving from a G3si ver 9.5 to a G3r ver 9.5. The configuration in the G3si was ported over to the G3r so that most of it is the same. Right now I'm going through all of the settings looking for those that didn't port over and also add anything that was put into the G3si after the snapshot of the configuration was taken. Most of the changes I kept track of and they were easy to re-do in the G3r (i.e. new stations, agents, routes, etc.) but something else was added in the G3si that I can't track down. When I did a List Groups-of-extension, I found that there were 4 extensions, with a group type of Hunt, in Hunt Group 4 that had been added. If I do a Disp hunt-group 4, it shows the additional extensions.

If I do the same in the G3r, they are not there, but if I try to added 1604 it tells me it's not assigned yet.

I've looked everywhere I can think of but I can't figure out where I added them in the G3si so I can make the same entries in the G3r. I know it's going to be one of those "Duh" moments when someone tells me where I can find them, but I'm flying into Omaha at the remote site to start the final switch over this weekend and I need to finish up matching these two switches up.

So can someone point me in the right direction of where I create the extensions first so I can add them to the hunt group?

Thanks

Mike

Netcon ports are exclusive to the smaller systems (Prologix, G3si). They are ports that are used for system access, CDR, and system printer). The G3r uses System ports instead. They are made up of two circuit packs: TN553 & TN726. They serve the same function, just different architecture.

g3si / g3csi netcons were used for remote SAT connections, and saving announcements to tape and flash.

add data-module with type netcon
enter and extension and a maintenance extension for each netcon data-module - 01 to 04 and they would be associated with the tn777 / tn794 / tn2401 network control ports and net/pkt ports in the "A" carrier.
They would show up in list data-module as ports 1AXX01 with maint port 1BXX01 up to 1AXX04 to 1BXX04.

usually you would add the data-module extension to a hunt-group so there is a pool access by dialing the hunt-group extension to access a SAT session.

g3r system-port is also programmed by adding a data-module with type system-port. There is not a maintenance extension required like there was on g3si / g3csi. You could still add the data-module extensions to a hunt-group for a pool access to a SAT session by dialing the hunt-group extension.

PDATA LINE TN553 has 12 ports so the 4 data-module capacity restriction is only for g3si / g3csi.

These system ports are wired one pdata line port to one data line port as illustrated below:

1st 2 ports

Code:
tn726 tn553

Of course this is all obsolete if you have a clan with ethernet connectivity for ASA.

Thanks, Kevin and Avaya, that is the info I needed. I'm still not sure how or why the remote site has more ports identified or when it was added, but at least I can get the two to match up now. I'd rather match it up and not use the ports than not add them in and find out after I've left that something is working right. It may be something that was a carry over from something previous, which is why it doesn't look familiar to me.

We are on a C-lan for ASA and BCMSvu at both of our locations.

Thanks to both of you.
