I am working with Crystal 10. I have a report that list all patient accounts with self Pay status. I have it Alphabetically sorted.

Is there a way to group it by alphabet? In otherwards, put all patient names that start with "A" in a group, "B" in a group, etc.. I'd like to subtotal each group to give an accurate number of accounts in each alphabet character.

Thanks for any help!

You can insert a group on:

{table.lastname}[1]

-LB

Create a formula called AlphaGroup:

left({PatientNameField},1)

Then create a group on that formula. The group will probably be group #1; I don't see any indication that you already have other groups created.

This will only create a group for which you have at least one patient with that initial - in other words, if you don't have any patients whose last name starts with X, there won't be a group X. If you need a group for every letter regardless of whether or not you have patients, post that and we'll come up with a solution.
