I recently purchased vonage phone service. I know nothing about phone systems because I am the accountant. I plugged my vonage phone service into the 800 gs/ls iclid card but it is set to ground start trunks. How do I change these to loop start on the merlin? I need to be able to get into programming and change 8 lines from ground to loop. Please give me directions or a link to a manual on how to do this.

Well, it's not all that difficult, even for an accountant.

These instructions assume you are woking on a LEGEND, not a MAGIX.

First, we must determine which SLOT in the SYSTEM you 800 GS/LS Card is in.

Typical SYSTEM

NOT CONSIDERED SLOT 0 SLOT 1 SLOT 2

POWER UNIT PROCESSOR 408 GLM 800 GLI

So in the layout shown above, the PROCESSOR is slot ZERO and your 800 GLI Board is SLOT 2.

Now, at the BIG PHONE, usually the Main Operator Console, (A MLX 20 L Set)

Press:

Menu
System Program
EXIT
Lines/Trunks
LS/GS/DS1
Enter Slot Number (as above would be 2)
Press Enter
Select All Loop
Press HOME

That should do it.

It is a magix. What is different from the instructions above? I really appreciate the help.

Same procedure - just figure out what slot the 800 GS/LS ICLID module is in. As Merlinman said, slot#1 is the first module to the right of the processor, slot#2 is the 2nd slot to the right of the processor, etc. So press menu, system programming, start, lines/trunks, LS/GS/DS1, enter the correct slot#, press enter, select "ALL LOOP", and then press exit to leave programming mode. Your module is likely to be in slot 1 or 2. If you can't figure out the slot number - do this: press menu, maintenance, system, inventory. The first screen will be for slot 00 - which is the processor, press more or the right arrow key on the top right side of the operator console. You will now see slot 01 and the module that is installed. Press more or the right arrow key again - and you will see the next module, etc. One of them will be the 800 GS/LS ICLID module. Use whatever slot# it shows up in as the one to enter in the procedure discussed above.
