Hello community,

new to version 9.0 i had to discover that when i choose a cursoradpater (a "native" one, nothing special) as recordsource, it kills the layout i've given the grid at design time and shows instead of that all fields of the cursor in its natural order...

Then even worser, after a cursorfill-operation, it deletes all columns from the grid and "columncount" equals 0.
In older version i never had problems with grids and views.

So please, how can i save and recall my design-time grid-layouts.

thanks for help.

Hendrik

Hi Hendrik,

Welcome to the forum.

The behaviour you are seeing is not specific to cursoradapters. Whenever you regenerate the record source of a grid, you lose the columns and therefore all the properties of the columns.

The solutions in the FAQ that Mike Gagnon suggested should point you in the right direction.

Mike

Hi,

I thank you both for your replies.
The mentioned article really helps.

But at the end, i'm a bit disappointed with MS.
In Version 6 I knew this kind of hanky-panky only from cursor, that where build at run-time. With views I never had this problems...

I just read the MS-KB article about this topic, they write that this behavier is by design, but I still don't know in which case the behavier would be usefull. If i never change the recordsource, please let it be the way i designed it.

So I think MS means: If you can't fix it, call it a feature...

thanks

Hendrik
