Grey Error Box on Start-UP (FPW 2.6 under W98)

Two of my customers recently upgraded their equipment and the new computers (2 from Gateway and 1 from Dell) came with Windows 98 2nd Edition installed. When we run the FoxPro for Windows program we get a big grey box that says: "An error has occurred in your program..." and two boxes are then presented: Close & Continue. Selecting "Continue" allows the program to start normally.  Does anyone out there know what might be causing this? Is there a way to get the program to start without this happening.

FoxPro 2.6 is a DOS based program and has problems working on large hard drives over 2gig in size (unless it is a network drive) and several other issues with Microsoft updating thier operating system.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are patchs for the problems you can find/download them at.<br><br>The Microsoft patch page for this is located here: <br><A HREF="

You have to patch your FoxPro version to run on mew machines above 266 Mhz.<br><br>Look at Microsoft and look for a file called PATCH_26.EXE<br><br>

I actually had executables designed in FPW 2.5 that had the same problem and there was no patch available for 2.5 -- I copied the 2.6 esl file and renamed it with the appropriate 2.5 esl file name and it worked.&nbsp;&nbsp;Don't know if that will help.<br><br>

FPW 2.6 crashes completely on startup on my win98 system.&nbsp;&nbsp;Only Norton crashgaurd can revive it.&nbsp;&nbsp;The patch page on microsofts support site is inaccesible to me.&nbsp;&nbsp;A search of the knowlede base does not find anything for patch_26.exe.&nbsp;&nbsp;Any further advise?

For starters if FPW is crashing on startup so bad Norton stepin, You have something else wrong,&nbsp;&nbsp;Uninstall FPW and there reboot, run notron Win Doctor and reboot, Then reinstall.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>After that, then worry about the patch. <br>After that you can connect to Microsoft by FTP and Download all pathces to 2.6<br><A HREF="ftp://ftp.microcosft.com/developr/fox/public/fpw/patches" TARGET="_new">ftp.microcosft.com/developr/fox/public/fpw/patches</A> <p>David W.
