Some of the most entertaining of "advice" comes in the form of mixed metaphors. One of the other MAI threads got me chuckling as I reminisced over some of Yogi Berra's famous mixed metaphors.

List some of your favorites here so that we can "burn that bridge when we come to it."

Not exactly mixed metaphors, but...

"People who live in stone houses, shouldn't throw glasses"

"A penny saved is ridiculous"

And I had a Marine Corps Drill Instructor once tell me...

"Pain the the feeling of weakness leaving the body"

We have to get all our ducks on the same page."

"It's time to grab the bull by the horns and look him in the eye."

"I'm sweating like a bullet"

"It sticks out like a sore throat"

"I have a lot of black sheep in my closet."

Hi,
as a member of amateur musicians community I like the saying " It is nice to play at a funeral if it is not of your own".
This one makes my wife mad: "Do not lay down on tomorrow what you can do a day after tomorrow ".
A German friend instructed me "Fire in your fingers, ashes in your head". He was a programmer. I hope you see what I said.

As long as it pairs up with the other halves, I'll be fine... ;-)

One I use all the time is
"It's like falling off a horse, you never forget how"

PaulBricker, as a former horse owner, I can attest to the truth of that one!

@SQLSister
I've fallen off a few of them myself but always got back on.

My favorite Yogi-ism:

Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded.
