After I installed a later version of win98, windows wont detect my graphics card.instead it is using automatically the standard PCI graphics card.I dont have the display driver installation card and I dont know the manufacturer of the card.Is there any way that I can detect the graphics card?

Open the case and read the video card itself, physically. It should give you a pretty good idea of what it is on some little label or something.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given and if you like my advice, please mark it as helpful.

There isnt any useful information on the card itself. It is made in taiwan. Are there any software to detect the manufacturer?
Thanks

Even if the drivers aren't actually installed properly, the card should post on boot! (the first screen you see) usually just a couple of lines of information at the top of the screen, which will reveal Type of card, how much onboard memory and card bios version etc.
Most graphics cards have a built in bios chip just like the motherboard, that contains this vital start up information.
Only thing is you may have to start and shut down the system a few times to write it all down. Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

hi martin
As you have said i have been able to get the following information on booting:

Device Class: Display controller, Device ID 7800, Vendor ID 8086

Also I got the following info from the display card itself:
7402A
AQA (written in the port)

Written on a square shaped chip
KTS
KDN-3350HC
66.666Mhz
9902JP2

Written on the chip under the heat sink
Intel 1740
FW8270
Please tell me if u could help me from this info...to get the display driver

You have a video card with the Intel 1740 chipset.
Drivers for this are available at
I have one of these myself and I can tell you that if you are running it on an AMD system, particularly with a VIA chipset motherboard you will have continuing problems. If you are on an Intel system, pentium or celeron, you should be OK
