Can anyone suggest or recommend a graphic card which enhances and can cope with Macromedia Flash or Director movies of sizes up to 1280 x 1024 resolution and with frame rates up to 70fps+. I have tried a G-Force 5200 256MB with Direct 9X. Does not seem to make a huge difference. My machine has a P4 3.0Ghz , 512MB.

I am not too fimilar with the different types of cards, what ive read is most seem to be directed at gaming application. Can anyone shed some light on this one?

well it all depends on how much your're willing to spend.

I use a nVidia 256mb 7800 GT card and everything runs smooth. Although this card would set you back around £360 sterlin.

There are cheaper alternatives, but my advice would be to go for a 256mb.

Cheaper examples include nVidia 6600 GT or 6800 GT or Ultra.

These prices range around £100 - £200 sterlin.

Martin

Computing Help And Info:

Hey JMal,

I am looking at the Radeon x850 chipset. All the benchmarks I have looked at, its runs the biggest games the fastest (eg DOOM 3, HIGH Quality, 1280x1024, 6x AA / 16x AF, avg 52fps)

They come in many shapes and sizes, start around (roughly) $250USD(pretty plain) - over $500USD(dual DVI VIVO), depending on the card you get.

Should handle what you want to do ;)
Cheers!
