Grant by SYS user Windows environment 1

I need to grant Select on various system tables (dba_tables, dba_indexes, dba_segments...) and the instructions state it must be granted by SYS. I have logged in to SQLPlus (windows) as a user with DBA authority. How do I connect as SYS? We use Oracle 9i Release 9.2.0.6.0 on Windows 2003 server.

Just grant SELECT ANY DICTIONARY privilege.

connect SYS/password AS SYSDBA

Please bear with me.. new to Oracle... I've logged into the Windows SQlPlus dialog box as a DBA user. I get the following: (substituting our actual SYS password)

SQL> connect sys/password as sysdba;
ERROR:
ORA-12560: TNSrotocol adapter error

Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.

Try adding the oracle sid:

connect sys/password@MySID as sysdba;
