Hello,

Has anyone integrated a GXW4501 with a Nortel BCM50 that can share configuration settings? I've spent about a day and a half going through the documentation and trying various configuration combinations and can get the T1 interface in the Grandstream to go blue indicating the link is available however, test calls show the GXW4501 returning a 404 Not found message to the SIP invite. I have support from the product vendor and they confirmed I have correct inbound and outbound routes built in the Gateway. Any help or suggestions will be welcomed and appreciated.

Brian~

Is there any way that you could provide details to your setup and integration?

Hi Curly,

Thanks for the response, I'd be happy to post my configurations shortly. I had set up to remotely access the Gateway but the link appears to be down at the moment and I'm waiting on someone from the church's admin team to arrive on-site and check the firewall and WAN connection. Once my access is restored I'll post the T1 configs from the gateway side. I'll attach now a pic of some notes of the current BCM configs for the T1.

Much appreciated,

Those settings are spot on with exceptions.
Settings from the Norstar FAQ page

Are those settings what the Carrier has setup on their end?

The exceptions are:
-DMS100 would actually be NI2 on the BCM
-The Sequence (Ascending or Descending) depends on how the carrier has it, if they have it as one way then do the opposite on the BCM.

Other mentions
The BCM allows for DMI-T1 or DTMI-PRI, make sure you choose the correct one.
Make sure the module is DTI card is enabled and that the Trunk Ports Details tab shows the ports enabled too.
Make sure Provisioned Lines are accurate, if it's fractional then disable the correct amount.

Outbound
Make sure Dest codes, Routes and Dialing Plan/Public are accurate for outbound.

Inbound
Make sure the public received digits are the same or higher then what the carrier sends

Use the Monitor
It will be your friend
Note any delay time etc.
Use the UIP Tab/MCDN over IP to see the log

I might be outta ammo!

Hi Curly,

Thanks for the response the help is much appreciated. I'd been trying to have someone from the site screen share with me over the past week to no avail so today was the first day I was able to make it back on site. I'll attach clips of the T1 interface settings from the gateway.

I was hoping after your post that it was the ascending/descending setting but I see now it was already the opposite of what's in the BCM.

It's been a while since I dealt with a digital trunk on a BCM but from what I recall, DMS100 equates to NI-1 protocol so make sure you are set up accordingly and I see in your gateway setup that you are set to T1. I would set it as PRI on both the BCM DTI card programming and your gateway. NI-2 is used by AT&T central office switches. You can use it between your BCM and gateway if you want but I'll bet that there's more programming to do for it. DMS100 has always been the easiest to set up and get working.

-DMS100 would actually be NI2 on the BCM"

telcodog corrected me on that (thanks) "DMS100 equates to NI-1"

We both had agreed that your MBM should be set to DTM-PRI so maybe start with that.

If Grandstream settings are ok according to them then maybe show some BCM settings.
Your sure your Inbound (Target/Received) and Outbound (Dest/Routes) on the BCM is all programmed ok?

Were you testing inbound or outbound or both?

Are you aware the BCM can do SIP Trunking?

Hello,

Just want to start by saying thanks again to all!

I was able to get some time on site today with Grandstream remoting in to assist. They poked around in the gateway configs while having me try test calls and confirmed calls are coming into the Gateway and being routed out the T1 interface. I left things off with them indicating my intentions to change configs on the BCM. I had issues with the element manager not wanting to display any info and just giving me the endless circle when trying to click on the PRI module in the telephony resource panel. So I went in through the phone and disabled the module then changed to DMS100 then re-enabled and reconfigured the route, however, I appear to have missed the part in the instructions under step 6 you linked that said set to PRI-A or PRI-B what are the options there? I just matched what had been there for the CO PRI but now after getting home and re-reading I'm questioning what I had that set too. It's unfortunate I only had a couple of hours where the site was accessible to try various configurations. I'm tentatively planning to return to the site in the morning to make some more attempts.

There's another gentleman we have do the standard administration of the system he just has limited experience with integrating PRIs period and certainly not from a situation outside of the PRI coming from a CO vs a gateway he says he's configured the routing so that the temp DID we have attached to the SIP trunks should land at a test IVR. I'll be able to post pics from element manager of the other configs tomorrow though.

We were testing both directions. And the system doesn't have licenses installed to enable SIP trunking, unfortunately.

PRI-A or PRI-B what are the options there?

Not sure what you mean by options.
Since you have only 1 PRI/23 Channels, then you most likely would just use PRI-A
Double check the Voip Lines under Telephony/Lines that they are indeed PRI-A or not.

Remote access - have IT forward ports 5989 (BEM) and 60001 (Monitor) so you can do your job properly/remotely

BEM issues-
-Make sure you have the latest Java
-BEM version 62.0.3 or greater
-Do the java security file editing option 1
-Reboot the BCM

You can also extract programming to excel under Session up top in BEM

I reviewed your spread sheet...

Inbound
-Your Public Received digits is set to 4, are you sure the carrier/gateway is set to 4?
You can set the Public Received digits to equal too or greater then what they are sending to the system.
SIP carriers I believe send only 10, but with a Gateway involved I do not know.
If unsure then change your received digits in dial plan to 10, then change the received number in target lines.

-If I recall you may not be able to use 0 as the start of a received target line if using 0 for Direct Dial which is default so if an issue disable the Direct Dial

Outbound
Your lines are set as BlocB, but your Route 001 is told to use BlocA which does not exist, so best to change either or so they match.

Your Public Network shows no entry for the dest code of 9, add an entry of 9 and DN length of 11 (this will allow 9 plus the 10 digit tel number to dial out)

"Im not sure the number ending in 8200 set to go anywhere properly."
I do not see it listed under Target Lines as being programmed at all.

"nninstaller"
good one! lol

Been awhile since I have programmed PRI, maybe somebody will hopefully chime in again.
