James, Note that their offense was not correcting bad grammar, but defacing government property.

We have a pair of government-sponsored signs in a nearby parking lot. The signs drive me nuts:

I wonder if one could argue that misspellings in "our" signs constitute in and of themselves a defacement, or that we the people have the God-given duty to provide education along private lines where the public as a whole have fallen deficient.
