Hello,

I would like to have a gradient background for my spreadsheet. I can create a shape or text box with one, however I cannot select the cells underneath the shape/text box. Does anyone have any ideas how this can be accomplished?

Thanks,

Hi,

Are you using Fomat > Sheet > Background...?

I can select any cell.

Create a shape box as large at you need for your background and set your gradient.
With the shape box selected, hold your shift key and go to Edit and choose Copy Picture... I used the default settings of Screen and Picture.
Paste the image into your favorite graphics program (like IrfanView) and save the file.
Back in Excel, delete the shape box.
Go to Format / Sheet> Background...
File the file you created, Click [Insert]

That should work great. However, I do not want the background printable, only visual. (lots of ink)
