I've got some inherited organograms originally produced in, of all things, powerpoint. The options powerpoint provides allows a variety of graded fills.

I'm trying to produce similar effects for the same organogram created in Pagemaker to allow me to insert in a variety of publications however I'm stumped on how to do this as the only options which I can see seem to relate to hatching patterns.

Is there a way of doing this or do I have to rely on creating the boxes in photoshop and inserting them with text over?

Pagemaker does not do gradients. You have the right idea, create your background in PS. Be forewarned that you will be creating some rather large graphics files. I generally make the image a little larger than the 8.5 x 11 page (or whatever size the page is) to allow for bleed, generally 1/8" per side. Also take into consideration the end purpose: is this for prepess, for in-house bubble jet printing or for web? For prepress you will want to work with 300DPI TIFFs, for bubble jet you can get away with lower rez, for web you can go as low as 72DPI and hence a smaller graphic.

Hope this helps. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
