I want to manage the temporary internet files of my users. I found an article on TechNet which explained how to enable User Preferences->Windows Settings->Internet Explorer Maintenance->Advanced->Corporate Setting to limit the size of the TIF. However, when I attempt to go to properties of said Corporate Settings, the GPO editor crashes and I'm left with a DrWatson error in my eventlog:

The application, mmc.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 03/08/2005 @ 12:26:29.945 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 025E4FD8(<nosymbols>)

I looked the error up on eventid.net and it's apparently a memory access error but I've got no clue how to fix it from here. Any ideas?

you editing the GPO from which machine? your pc or the server?
if your PC, what OS is it? service pack & such...

try on another PC, to eliminate an AD problem and be able to limit it to the PC that produced the crash...

I'm editing the GPO on the server. We've got two DCs running and it happens on the other one as well. The same thing happens when I click on Internet Settings under the Advanced option.

on both servers?
installing admin pack on a workstation and trying to change it from there does the same thing??

if so, may well be the GPO that has been corrupted...
could be something else too...
open to suggestions.

I tried installing the admin pack on my machine. On any policy (I've got 4 set up on one particular group) when going to User Config -> Windows Settings, the only option I have is Remote Installation Settings. I don't think it's a problem with permissions - I've got the same permissions my boss does and he was able to access and configure the TIF setting I was speaking of. That's great (and thanks for the advice on that) but I'd like to be able to manage it further without requiring use of his machine. Any ideas on THAT one? :)
