I recently developed, a networked, Paradox 8 application that generates a number of reports and allows users print them if required.

I am running WinNT and have had the 'Printer Fonts have changed re-run report and print' popup problem for some time.

I got round that by providing a control which simply prints the report without displaying it on the screen (go figure!!). I know its a bit of a fudge but hey better than nothing. This worked fine at first, but recently I have started getting a GP Violation when I hit this new control.

The popup GP Violation is the standard Paradox 8 one.

Unexpected General Protection Violation

Press 'OK' then save your documents and Exit Paradox ..... etc etc.

The Violation only occurs on NT machines, as my app runs fine on 95\98 and prints without problems from the new control and from the displayed report.

Does anyone have any ideas about the cause of my GP?

Steve

Just out of curiosity, are you running Netware or JetAdmin products? Mac :)

If you are using Client 4.83, then there is patch from Novell that you need to apply to the NT workstations. Also, check your printer drivers. If you are using HP PCL6 or some new drivers, try reverting to an older driver set. Mac :)

SercoSteve,

A couple of other ideas come to mind:

1. Make sure you haven't saved your reports with an active filter or range.

2. Verify that the stylesheet is valid. Yes, you still need to worry about them--even if you don't use them specifically (Details:
Hope this helps...

Thanks for your responses guys.

Unfortunately I am not running Novell Netware Version 4.83, but Version 4.71. My default printer is using HP PCL6, but changing to an alternative printer, that doesn't use it, doesn't make any difference.

Have checked for Active Filters and the Stylesheet is valid.

Any other suggestions greatly received.

Steve
