New to Flash MX. Am learning that scenes not always a good idea, but, having made a complex movie using them....

Why is it when I publish as HTML & Flash, a gotoAndPlay across scenes does not work. But when I play the .swf independent of the html, they do work?

I have tried changing a gotoAndPlay to _root.gotoAndPlay("frame_name"); but that doesn't fix it either?

Assistance appreciated.

It's true that it's better to allways use frame labels to target other scenes, but it would be the first time I'd see it not working because of the html. The html really has nothing else to do with the Flash movie outside of embedding it.
Are you using the html outputed by the Flash Publish feature, or from something else, like DW? And you're sure you have all unique frame labels (no number only labels or at least not starting off with numbers!), that you've added _root (or _level0 from movies loaded on other levels) to your path and using this syntax, with the double quotes around the frame label?

on(release){
_root.gotoAndPlay("frame_label");
}

What you wrote makes perfect sense... the html is just a placeholder for the movie. And I double checked my syntax.

The .swf works fine, but in the html does not link across scenes.

I don't suppose there is any way to show you or get the file to you. I know that's an imposition, but I've spent 2 days trying to find my error, without success.

You can upload both your html and .fla in a zipped package to your server and provide a link to download it from there, or you can hit my handle to e-mail me the package. You'll find my e-mails in my profile.

Yep! You're right! But it seems it's because your Scene 2 was somehow corrupted. Created a new scene of my own, then another new one replacating your Scene 2 (basically the same as Scene 1 (frame 55) but with the added "founded" text, and both worked fine.
Suggest you do the same.

Thanks. I did get it to work by building an identical scene 2 and discarding the original. Sheeesh!
