Hi Guys
Sorry I posted this on the wrong forum I think. Been reading lots of good comments, tips and solutions so wondered if you may be able to help me with this prob.

I have a form 'frmBDMSales' with a text field 'event' that has three types of value entered into it, 'NA', 'NO' and '12.01', the last one can be any value to two digits as it represents money. The van sales person uses NA for not available, NO for no answer and a value for a sale. In order to make it simple for the user they only wanted one field to enter data into so I had to use text ( I think ). I have used autokeys to produce NA and NO and add a carriage return after to move to the next field to be input but am lost as to how to do this when a value with a decimal point and two digits after is typed in. The aim is as soon as they have placed the decimal point some how I count for 2 more digits and then move to the next record automatically.

Does anyone have any ideas that may help, and sorry but I need them in a hurry if poss..

Thanks in anticipation, and even if not, great site thanks.

Hi:
If you move to the next record immediately after entering the decimal point, how do they ever enter pennies?
In Tools, you can choose where your cursor goes after the "Enter" or the "Tab" key.
Go to Tools > Options > Keyboard. (Access2000)
I hope this is helpful. Gus Brunston [glasses] An old PICKer, using Access2000.

Hi Gus

Thanks for taking the time. Sorry dont think I have explained this well.
They will type all the characters in except the £ sign. I want them to put pounds and pennys in like 12.11 ( not £12.11p )and so I was thinking somehow that as soon as a '.' was put in I would be able to say 2 numbers entered after the decimal point must be the end of this inut and automatically goto next record.
Hope this bad english helps your understanding of my bad choice of english

Cheers friend

Bill

Hi again:

O.K. The property you probably need is "Auto Tab".

1) Assure that your control's Data Type is "Currency";

2) Design the input mask you want in the control's property sheet, "Data" > "Input Mask;

3) In the property sheet for the control, "Other" > "Auto Tab" = "Yes."

If that doesn't do it let us know. This has got to be simple, even though I always use tab or enter to move to the next control. Maybe I'll reconsider that...

Hi Gus

Thanks for that, but the problem is I have to put in either NA or NO or a value, I use the sendkeys function to put in NA and goto next record assigning it to a function key F11 same with NO to F12. So cant do what you suggest, but you are giving me real heart, what can we do next my friend

And thanks for taking your valuable time out to help me

Bill

Truly sorry,

But I think "auto tab" can only work with an input mask. Don't know where to go from here.
