I am new to Oracle (SQL Server background) and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book on Oracle 9i.

I have had a look myself and there is one called:

Oracle9i: The Complete Reference by Kevin Loney

which looks good but I dont want to blindly purchase an expensive book unless some of you guys give me some confidence that it is worthwhile.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

That book is currently available used at amazon.com for $7 and is a steal at that price. Search on Oracle Complete, select the appropriate entry and look at the used prices.

have a look at the books by Tom Kyte (asktom.oracle.com) very good reading..

FYI, I looked in Amazon and the feedback rating for the seller of the $7 book was very bad. johnherman said
it was a steal, and it certainly looks that way ;)

RE: Cheesteak comment - Amazon provides some degree of guarantee that your order will be fulfilled. The dissatisfaction is usually in the condition of the book......
