Hello,
We are in the process of upgrading Goldmine 5.5 to 6.7. Does anyone know the best way to accomplish this task. We are currently using goldmine 5.5 on NT 4. We have acquired a new server and installed windows server 2003 standard. I will like to install a fresh copy of Goldmine 6.7 and move the database to the new server. Is this feasible? Will I loose my license? Should I upgrade first on NT 4 to version 6.7 before moving the database and user profile?

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks

1. I gather this is a dBase database. The best way to do this is to maintain the database and then create a sync set from your Goldmine 5.5 system.

2. On the new server install GM6.7.

3. Copy over your ini files and the *.dbf, *.dbt and *.mdx files from the GoldMine root directory. This will license your system and bring over the users and user settings etc from GoldMine.

4. Retrieve the sync set into the new system.

Can't think of anything I have missed. HTH

Jason,
Thanks for your your reply.
When you say "Retrieve the sync set" do you mean copiying the sync folder at the root of the goldmine. Sorry, I have just inherited the company's network and system administration. So, I have a limited knowledge of Goldmine. I have indeed gone through the recent Goldmine documentation to familiarize myself with its file structure.
So, if you can simplify the steps required to retrieve the sync, it will be appreciated. Thanks again.

I wouldn't do it this way. I'd copy/move the 5.5 from the NT4 server to the 2003 server and get it fully operational there and THEN upgrade it to 6.7 using the 6.7 setup utility.

Once you've done that download the linked doc mover from the website below. If your server name and documents location have changed then you'll need the utility to realign everything.
