Due to recent MS security updates the GoldMine .chm help file may stop working when opened remotely from a server.

The resolution is to copy the following into notepad, save a .reg file and add to the registry.

Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\HHRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001
"EnableFrameNavigationInSafeMode"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001

More information on the problem can be found here

Modify the registry of the Server, or of the Client Workstations? The KB article is unclear.

I modified the Registry of my local workstation (client), and (after exiting and launching GM again), my precious help files were un-disappeared. Thanks be to RobColborne.

My help files will not open as well. I went to the registry and followed the steps..only got this far

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL__MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x

that's as far as I got. The \HHRestrictions] was not an option.

What can I do from here?

Hi

If you take the registry details from the original post, paste them into notepad and then save as a file with a .reg extension. Double-click the file,Windows should prompt to add the details to the registry, doing so will add the full and correct registry keys.
